Welcome

Thank you for teaching in the 21-22 PreAL-Doctoral Program, a program of the Administrator Licensure Program (ALP) in the UO College of Education. We look forward to your PreAL (Preliminary Administrator Licensure) institute. All 21-22 PreAL institutes will be delivered via Zoom. We have designed this blog to help you prepare for your presentation. A few important reminders:

  • You can expect a drastically-reduced cohort size of 5-7 students, and therefore it will be similar to teaching a collegiate seminar. Please plan for the smaller cohort size within your instruction. Planning can involve the discussion of topics in greater depth, the opportunity to add additional scenarios, simulations, applied activities to the class day, etc.
  • We recommend a minimum of 2-3 application activities/exercises for every four hours of instruction.
  • During small groups, have someone be the reporter (the person who will share out with the rest of the class). The person in this role can change throughout the session.
  • Each breakout session for application activities/exercises should last at least 8 minutes.
  • Note about introductions: While we do not use class time for introductions (i.e., students share their name, school, district, or title), we do provide a cohort list with this info. Also, you are welcome to plan an introductory activity that helps you better understand students’ familiarity with various topics, or one that has an instructional purpose. You can also issue a pre-class survey to students prior to class to gauge their familiarity with various topics (advance planning required).
  • Note: All PreAL sessions are recorded. See Recording Disclaimer tab for more info.

Change for 21-22: Students will not provide feedback after each institute this year. Therefore, you will not receive a summary of student feedback after your institute. We highly recommend having the Zoom app installed on your computer/device for your PreAL presentation.

To join the PreAL classroom on Zoom, you will enter the Zoom Meeting ID and passcode below into the Zoom app:

  • Enter Meeting ID: 822 3439 2855 (in the Zoom Application for Mac or PC).
  • Enter Passcode: 425350

If you don’t already have the Zoom app on your computer/device, you may Download the Zoom app (select the “Zoom Client for Meetings”).

As part of the preparation for your institute, we strongly encourage you to take a look at the ALP Equity Statement and Resources also posted on this blog.
